When Google Search Console will not connect to TamRank, it is almost always one of a few things: a blocked verification check, the wrong property, or the wrong Google account. This page walks through each GSC connection problem and how to fix it. Setting it up in the first place is covered in Connecting Google Search Console.

First check: are you an admin?
Only an administrator can connect Search Console. If you see “You do not have permission for this action,” connect from an admin account, or ask an admin to do it.
“We couldn’t verify your site”
This is the most common one. Before connecting, TamRank places a small, one-time file on your site and checks it from its own servers, to prove you own the site. If something blocks that outside request, usually a firewall, a security plugin, or a staging environment, the check fails. The message shows a Reason, such as a timeout or an unreachable page, so you know what happened.
To fix it:
- Temporarily relax the firewall or security plugin that blocks outside requests, then click Try again.
- If your site is on staging or behind a login, connect once it is publicly reachable.
- Still stuck? Contact support and they can connect your site manually.
The badge says Mismatch
A Mismatch badge means TamRank connected to Google, but the property you picked does not match this site’s domain, so the numbers would be wrong. Open the card and choose the property that matches your site.
Watch for two versions of the same site in Search Console: a domain property (example.com) and a URL-prefix property (https://example.com). Pick the one that matches how your site is set up, then Save.
“No Search Console properties found for this Google account”
This means the Google account you signed in with has no verified property. Two causes:
- Wrong account. You signed in with a Google account that does not own this site. Disconnect and connect again with the account that has the site in Search Console.
- Site not added yet. The site is not in Search Console at all. Add and verify it in Google Search Console first, then connect.
“Could not initialize Google connection”
This is a temporary network or service hiccup while TamRank was starting the connection, and it usually comes with an error code. Click Connect with Google again; that resets the attempt and tries fresh.
When in doubt: disconnect and reconnect
Many connection problems clear up with a clean reconnect. Click Disconnect on the card, which is always available, even on a broken or mismatched connection, then Connect with Google again. Disconnecting removes the old connection and its cached data, so you start from a clean slate.
Not a connection fault: data a day or two behind
If you are connected but your numbers look a couple of days old, that is normal rather than a fault. Search Console data is delayed by about two days, so TamRank shows up to the previous day.
Tip: read the Reason before changing anything
When verification fails, TamRank tells you exactly why: a timeout, an unreachable page, an unexpected response. That one word points straight at the cause, almost always a security layer blocking the check, so read it before you start changing settings.

Why does TamRank verify my site before connecting?
To confirm you own it. It places a one-time file and checks it from outside. If that check is blocked, the connection fails.
I connected, but my data looks wrong.
Check for a Mismatch badge. The wrong property gives the wrong data, so pick the one that matches your domain.
Do I need to be an admin to connect?
Yes. Only administrators can connect Search Console.
