Writing a meta title and description for one page is a pleasant two minutes. Writing them for four hundred pages is not, and that is the gap the AI meta generator fills. It reads the page you are on and drafts a title and a description you can accept, edit, or ignore. It is a PRO feature and it spends credits. This page covers how to use it and what it costs.
In short
- Open a post or page and find the TamRank SEO box.
- Click Generate with AI next to the meta title or the meta description.
- Read what comes back, edit it, and save.
- Each generation spends a credit from your monthly balance.
Where it is
The generator is not a separate screen. It sits in the SEO tab of the TamRank SEO box, right beside the fields it writes into: one control for the meta title, one for the meta description. You can generate either on its own.
On the free plan those controls are visible but point at the upgrade instead of generating. Everything else in that box, the fields, the counters, the Google Preview, the score and the improvements list, is free and works exactly the same either way.
What it reads before it writes
The generator is not writing blind. It works from the actual page: your content, your focus keyword, and the kind of page it is. That is why generating on an empty draft gives you a weak result and generating on a finished page gives you something usable. Write the page first, then generate.
It also follows the tone settings you have configured, so the output matches how the rest of your site sounds rather than defaulting to the same breathless phrasing on every page. Set that up once and every generation across the site follows it.
The length rules are built in. A generated title comes back inside the range TamRank checks for, and so does a description, so a generated pair generally satisfies the length checks straight away.
What it costs
Generations are paid for in credits, which come with your PRO plan and renew every month. Your current balance is shown on the License tab in the plugin, along with a button to buy more if you run out before the month does.
Generating a title and then a description on the same page is two generations, and so is regenerating because you did not like the first attempt. That is worth knowing before you sit down to do fifty pages: a habit of regenerating three times per field costs six times what accepting a good first draft costs.
When your balance reaches zero, TamRank tells you plainly, along with when the credits reset. Nothing else in the plugin stops working; only the AI features pause.
Tip: treat the output as a first draft, always
The generator is good at the mechanical part, getting a keyword in, hitting the right length, summarising what the page says. It knows nothing about the thing you know: which detail makes a reader click, what your competitors already promise on that query, which claim you cannot make.
The best use of it is as a starting point on pages that currently have nothing. An empty meta description scores zero and lets Google invent a snippet from your page; a generated one that you then improve by ten words beats both. Read every line before you save it, and rewrite the ones that matter most to you by hand. Your highest-traffic pages deserve a human title.
One thing to check every time: never let a generated line promise something the page does not deliver. A description that oversells earns the click and loses the visitor, and Google notices the second part.
Troubleshooting
The Generate button shows an upgrade prompt. AI generation is a PRO feature. The rest of the SEO box works on the free plan.
Nothing happens when I generate. Check your credit balance on the License tab. At zero, generation pauses until your credits reset.
The output is generic. It works from the page content, so a thin or empty draft gives thin output. Write the page first, then generate.
The tone is wrong. Configure your brand and tone settings; the generator follows them, and set once they apply everywhere.
The generated title is too long. Rare, since length rules are built in, but the counter under the field is the authority. Trim to fit and put your most important words first.
Frequently asked questions
Is the AI meta generator free?
No, it is a PRO feature and each generation spends a credit. Writing meta titles and descriptions by hand is free.
How many credits does a generation cost?
One per generation. A title and a description on the same page is two.
Where do I see my balance?
On the License tab in the plugin, with a link to buy more.
Do unused credits roll over?
Your included credits renew monthly. The License tab shows your current balance and when it resets.
Can I edit what it generates?
Yes, and you should. It writes into the normal fields, so everything stays editable.
